StarCare Specialty Health System (StarCare) is the state designated Local Authority for mental health and intellectual disabilities for Lubbock, Lynn, Hockley, Cochran and Crosby Counties and the Local Authority for substance use disorders for 41 counties in the West Texas region. StarCare is also a Texas Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) and provides adult inpatient psychiatric services at Sunrise Canyon Hospital. Sunrise Canyon Psychiatric Hospital is seeking qualified and compassionate Registered Nurses to join our inpatient treatment team.
Responsibilities:
- maintain nursing standards in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, and Center and hospital policies, procedures, and standards.
- observation of patients’ activities,
- completion of 12-hour nurse assessments,
- development of the plan of care, necessary interventions during patient interactions, evaluation of outcomes, and documents all aspects of patient care.
Schedule: Shifts will be discussed during the interview process.

Qualifications:
- Required: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed in the State of Texas by the Board of Nurse Examiners as a Registered Nurse. No experience required.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and currently licensed in the State of Texas by the Board of Nurse Examiners as a Registered Nurse, plus one (1) year of full-time experience as a practicing registered nurse in a recognized public health agency, hospital or health care facility. Psychiatric nursing experience is preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:

- Knowledge and skill in operating standard office equipment (phone, copier, fax, etc.) and personal computer with Microsoft Office products is required.
Other Requirements:
- Must have a current Texas driver’s license. liability auto insurance, and be insurable under the Center’s insurance.
- Must pass a pre-hire drug screen and criminal background check.
- Must be able to meet the physical demands/requirements of the mandatory training program: Satori Alternatives for Managing Aggression (SAMA)
