StarCare Specialty Health System (StarCare) is seeking a full-time Central Stores Clerk to join its outstanding Purchasing team. The Central Stores Clerk is responsible for supporting organizational inventory and internal logistics operations through the receipt, stocking, distribution, and tracking of supplies, equipment, and materials. This role ensures efficient management of inventory and the timely availability of resources across the organization. In addition, the Central Stores Clerk serves as the organization's designated mail courier, responsible for the secure collection, processing, transportation, and delivery of incoming and outgoing mail, packages, interoffice correspondence, and other business-related materials between organizational locations. The position plays a critical role in maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting operational efficiency, and ensuring the reliable flow of materials and communications throughout the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, verify, and accurately process incoming shipments to ensure completeness, accuracy, and acceptable condition.
- Unload, organize, label, and stock inventory in designated storage areas in accordance with established procedures.
- Pick, pack, and distribute supplies, equipment, and materials to departments throughout the organization in a timely manner.
- Conduct routine inventory counts and assist with inventory control activities to maintain accurate inventory records and appropriate stock levels.
- Operate warehouse and material-handling equipment safely and in compliance with organizational safety standards.
- Serve as the organization's designated mail courier, ensuring the secure collection, sorting, transportation, and delivery of incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and interoffice correspondence.
- Complete scheduled pickups and deliveries between organizational departments, facilities, and locations while maintaining established delivery timelines.
- Maintain accurate receiving records, inventory transactions, delivery logs, and supporting documentation.
- Monitor inventory levels and promptly notify the Central Stores Coordinator of low stock levels, backorders, shortages, overages, or discrepancies.
- Maintain clean, organized, and secure storage, receiving, and distribution areas to promote efficiency and safety.
- Follow established chain-of-custody and documentation procedures for confidential, sensitive, or time-sensitive materials and deliveries.
- Coordinate daily courier routes and delivery schedules to ensure the efficient and timely distribution of mail, supplies, equipment, and organizational materials across all facilities and locations.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours.
- Ensure all required training and credentials are current and compliant with Center, federal, state, and local regulations, in addition to StarCare policies and procedures.
- Complete special departmental projects and other responsibilities with similar skill and work conditions as assigned.
- Support all activities in alignment with StarCare’s mission, values, and operational goals.
Schedule:
This is a full-time, on-site, position scheduled Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm, with flexibility to meet the needs of the department.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One (1) year of experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, shipping and receiving, mail distribution, courier services, purchasing support, or a related field preferred.
- Proficient in basic computer applications, including data entry and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Forklift certification preferred.
- Experience in handling confidential documents, records management, mailroom operations, or secure material distribution preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records, manage multiple priorities, and adhere to established procedures and deadlines.
- Strong organizational, time management, and customer service skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must have a current Texas driver’s license and be insurable under the Center’s insurance.
- Must pass all required pre-employment and annual screenings applicable to the position or services provided, as required by law, regulation, or agency policy, which may include criminal background, nursing registry, MVR, and drug screening based on applicable requirements.
