StarCare Specialty Health System (StarCare) is seeking a part time Family Partner to join its outstanding First Episode Psychosis (FEP) Team in providing supportive services to adults.  This role plans, develops and implements education, mentoring and support activities for consumers and family members on issues related to client treatment of serious emotional disturbance.

Family Partner Responsibilities:          

·     Coordinates, implements and facilitates family support with consumers, family members in group or individual settings at the Center or the setting of the consumer’s choice for the purpose of maintaining consumers and their families within the community and improve treatment outcomes.

·     Documents support activities within 24 hours of providing service. Coordinates, implements, and facilitates functions are completed professionally and accurately with no significant discrepancies noted.

·     Serves as Family Partner (mentor) delivering face to face support and education for identified parents as suggested by TRR  Guidelines.

·     Attends meetings, trainings, and staffing as required. Attends meetings as scheduled and within designated time frames professionally and accurately within established time frames, with no significant discrepancies noted.

 

Schedule: This is a part-time position.  Monday through Friday 11am-4pm, with flexibility to meet program needs.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a relative that has had to navigate the mental health system in some capacity.
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent (GED) with one year of related experience, preferred.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, be compassionate, and have a desire to help people who are struggling with mental illness.
  • Must be able to attend required training and work assigned schedule.
  • Knowledge and skill in operating standard office equipment (phone, copier, fax, etc.,) and personal computer with Microsoft Office products is required.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of human service delivery systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize a variety of assignments and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with clients/families, other employees, and the public.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Must pass a pre-hire drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Must have a Texas driver's license, liability auto insurance, and be insurable under the Agency's insurance.
