StarCare Specialty Health System is in search of a compassionate, experienced individual to serve as the Quality Improvement/Infection Control Coordinator for Sunrise Canyon Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital. This position works under the direct supervision of the Associate Hospital Administrator and has broad latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Responsibilities include:
- Evaluate the quality and safety of patient care by monitoring compliance with applicable laws, regulatory standards, evidence-based practices, and organizational policies, and by conducting internal audits and performance reviews.
- Monitor key performance indicators, nursing-sensitive outcomes, and patient outcome data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for continuous quality improvement.
- Manage infection prevention and control surveillance, audits, and reporting processes to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Conduct new employee orientation and coordinate, deliver, and document ongoing clinical education and competency-based training to support high-quality inpatient psychiatric care and regulatory compliance.
- Complete, monitor, and submit monthly staff education and compliance reports, ensuring all required training and credentials remain current in accordance with Center, federal, state, local, and StarCare requirements.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design, implement, evaluate, and improve clinical processes, treatment protocols, and performance improvement initiatives that promote patient safety and care quality.
- Analyze clinical workflows and treatment protocols for alignment with evidence-based practices and regulatory requirements, recommending and implementing improvements as indicated.
- Participate in regulatory-required quality and performance improvement initiatives, committees, and project meetings, contributing to planning, progress evaluation, and resolution of identified barriers.
- Provide cross-functional and cross-coverage support in inpatient nursing operations, treatment planning, utilization management, and related clinical services as needed.
- Assist with departmental and organizational special projects and perform additional responsibilities consistent with assigned skills, work conditions, and operational needs.
Schedule: 8am – 5pm Monday – Friday with flexibility to meet the needs of the department.

Qualifications:

- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed in the State of Texas by the Board of Nurse Examiners as a Registered Nurse
- Two (2) years of full-time experience as a practicing registered nurse in a recognized public health agency, hospital or health care facility
OR
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university and currently licensed in the State of Texas by the Board of Nurse Examiners as a Registered Nurse
- One (1) year of full-time experience as a practicing registered nurse in a recognized public health agency, hospital or health care facility
Skills & Abilities:
- · Psychiatric nursing experience is preferred
- Knowledge and skill in operating standard office equipment (phone, copier, fax, etc.) and computer with Microsoft Office products is required
Additional Requirements:
- Must pass a pre-hire drug screen and criminal background check.
- Must have a Texas driver's license and be insurable under the Agency's insurance.
