StarCare Specialty Health System (StarCare) is seeking a full time Employee Relations Specialist to join its outstanding Human Resources team. Responsible for promoting a fair, consistent, and supportive work environment, this role serves as a primary resource to employees and leadership regarding workplace policies, performance expectations, and employee concerns. This role works collaboratively with HR team members and supervisors to provide guidance on employee performance, workplace behavior, policy interpretation, conflict resolution, and adherence to organizational values and standards.
Responsibilities:

Administer the Performance Accountability Program, ensuring consistent application of disciplinary actions, documentation, and follow-up in accordance with organizational policy.

Provide consultation and guidance to supervisors and employees on employee relations issues, including performance concerns, workplace behavior, conflict resolution, and policy compliance.

Conduct workplace investigations related to performance, conduct, complaints, or policy violations; prepare clear and thorough documentation of findings.

Conduct unemployment hearings on behalf of the agency, providing accurate documentation, representation, and testimony as needed.

Prepare and submit formal agency responses related to employment matters, including claims, inquiries, and regulatory requests.

Conduct employee exit interviews upon termination, documenting feedback, identifying trends, and communicating relevant information to leadership.

Support leadership in developing performance improvement plans and coaching strategies to promote employee success.

Monitor employee relations trends and recommend solutions, policy updates, or training needs to reduce risk and strengthen workplace culture.

Maintain accurate, confidential employee relations documentation and logs in accordance with HR standards and legal requirements.

Assist with updating, interpreting, and communicating HR policies and procedures to employees and managers.

Collaborate with HR team members on initiatives related to employee engagement, retention, and organizational development.

Facilitate or support employee meetings, corrective action conferences, and follow-up discussions with professionalism and neutrality.

Participate in training development and delivery for supervisors on topics such as documentation, coaching, conflict management, and the Performance Accountability Program.

Maintains regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours.

Ensure all required training and credentials are current and compliant with Center, federal, state, and local regulations, and in addition to StarCare policies and procedures.

Complete special departmental projects and other responsibilities with similar skill and work conditions as assigned.

Support all activities in alignment with StarCare’s mission, values, and operational goals.
Schedule: This is a full-time/exempt position scheduled Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm, with flexibility to meet the needs of the department.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field is required.

Equivalent combination of education and relevant HR/employee relations experience may be considered.

Experience performing disciplinary meetings, crucial conversation and/or conducting workplace investigations

SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Certification preferred.

Must have a current Texas driver’s license and be insurable under the Center’s insurance.

Must pass all pre-employment and annual screenings, including drug screen, criminal background, nursing registry, and MVR.
