StarCare Specialty Health System (StarCare) is seeking a full time Staff Accountant II to join its outstanding Accounting Team!
Responsible for managing and overseeing the payroll functions of the company under the supervision of the Director of Accounting. This role ensures employees are paid accurately and on time, while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. This position also supports all financial reporting, journal entries and reconciliations related to payroll. Works under moderate supervision, with some latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Responsibilities:
- Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure proper documentation for audits and reporting.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare journal entries for the general ledger and reconcile all payroll accounts.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues
- Collaborate with HR and Accounting teams to ensure data accuracy and resolve discrepancies
- Backup for accounts payable and trust fund functions as needed
- Other duties assigned to support the Accounting department of StarCare
Schedule: This is a full-time/non-exempt position scheduled Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm, with flexibility to meet the needs of the department.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
- Familiarity with payroll systems, UKG preferred.
- 0-2 years of proven experience in payroll accounting or similar role preferred.
- Knowledge of accounting and financial operations.
Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Skill in the use of office equipment, computers, and associated software applications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
Additional Requirements:
- Must pass pre-hire criminal background check and drug screen.
- Must have a valid Texas driver's license, liability auto insurance, and be insurable under the organization's insurance.
