StarCare Specialty Health System (StarCare) is seeking a full time Maintenance Mechanic/Specialist to join its outstanding Plant Operations team that supports StarCare's numerous facilities. This position will perform entry level building maintenance and construction work. .
Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining and repairing buildings, utility systems, stationary equipment, and vehicles;
- Operate motorized equipment;
- Complete assigned maintenance tasks using appropriate tools and equipment;
- Perform preventative maintenance on buildings, vehicles, and equipment;
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance and repairs;
- Assist with building inspections and safety requirements
Essential Duties:
- Communicate information to supervisor and other employees;
- Complete all required documentation accurately and within established timelines;
- Assist the supervisor or other Center Staff with special projects or assignments;
- Support building security and fill in providing support to the Plant Operations functions throughout StarCare Specialty Health System;
- Share on-call duties on rotating basis with other Maintenance employees;
- Travel to all Center locations or other citywide sites, using a Center vehicle and/or personal vehicle, is required.
Schedule: This is a full-time/non-exempt position scheduled Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm, with flexibility to meet the needs of the department.

Qualifications:
- High School Education or equivalent,
- Experience in construction, maintenance, and repair work.
Skills & Abilities:
- Working knowledge of operation and safe use of all power and hand tools/equipment common to the maintenance field is necessary.
- Knowledge of maintenance practices and principles.
- Knowledge of the construction, repair, maintenance, and operation of buildings, equipment, and utility systems.
- Skill in the use and maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Ability to follow instruction: to work from drawings, diagrams, or blueprints.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with other employees, customers in service and the public.
- Knowledge and skill in operating standard office equipment (phone, fax, copier, etc.) and personal computer with Microsoft Office products is required.
Additional Requirements:
- Must pass a pre-hire drug screen and criminal background check.
- Must have a Texas driver's license, liability auto insurance, and be insurable under the Agency's insurance.
